Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Goulding Finance collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information, and what you can do if you want to see it, correct it, or complain about how it has been handled.

Last updated 14 September 2026.

01Who we are

Goulding Finance is the mortgage and finance broking business of John Goulding, Credit Representative 581077 of Broker ACL Pty Ltd (ACN 681 761 375), Australian Credit Licence 563763.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we act as a credit representative, our licensee also maintains its own Privacy Policy and Credit Reporting Policy, which apply to credit activities carried out under its licence. You can request a copy of those from us at any time. Where this policy and the licensee’s policy differ, the licensee’s policy applies to those credit activities.

02What we collect

The information we collect depends on how you deal with us. If you only browse this website, we do not collect any personal information about you at all.

If you send an enquiry through this website, we collect:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • How and when you would prefer to be contacted.
  • What you are looking to do — for example buying a first home, refinancing, investing or car finance.
  • Any figures you choose to enter, such as an estimated property value, a current mortgage balance, a deposit amount, a price range or a trade-in value.

If you go on to become a client, we will need considerably more — including identification documents, income and employment details, assets, liabilities, living expenses and information about your credit history. We will explain what is needed and why at that point, and we will only ask for what is reasonably necessary to help you.

Please do not send us identification documents, account numbers, tax file numbers or payslips through the website enquiry form. It is not built for that. We will tell you how to send those securely when the time comes.

03Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and contact you in the way you asked us to.
  • Work out what lending options may be available and suitable for you.
  • Prepare, submit and follow up a credit application on your behalf, if you ask us to.
  • Meet our obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, anti-money-laundering law and our licensee’s requirements.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unrelated to your enquiry.

04Who we share it with

We only disclose your information where it is necessary for the purposes above, or where the law requires it. That may include:

  • Lenders and credit providers, where you have asked us to explore or submit an application.
  • Our licensee, Broker ACL Pty Ltd, and our aggregator, which provide the systems and compliance oversight we work under.
  • Insurers, valuers, conveyancers or other parties involved in a transaction, where relevant and with your knowledge.
  • Our professional advisers, and government or regulatory bodies where we are required to disclose.

Where credit information or credit eligibility information is involved — for example a credit report obtained from a credit reporting body — that information is handled under our licensee’s Credit Reporting Policy, which sets out which credit reporting bodies are used and how to deal with them. Ask us for a copy.

05Information sent overseas

The enquiry form on this website is delivered by Formspree, a form service operated in the United States. When you submit the form, the details you entered are transmitted to and processed on servers located outside Australia before reaching us.

If you would prefer your information not to leave Australia, please contact us directly by phone or email instead of using the form. Our contact details are in section 9.

06Cookies and website analytics

This website does not set cookies, and it does not run any analytics or tracking. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracking script on this site. We do not build a profile of you from your visit.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and reliability purposes.

07Storage, security and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. That includes access-controlled systems and, for client files, the secure systems provided through our licensee and aggregator.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Email in particular is not a secure channel, so please think twice before emailing sensitive documents.

We keep records for as long as we are required to by law and by our licensee’s requirements — for credit files this is a number of years after your dealings with us end. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to keep it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

08Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Just contact us using the details below.

We will normally respond within 30 days. There is no fee for asking. In the rare cases where we cannot give you access, we will tell you why in writing.

09Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. Contact John Goulding on 0411 035 767 or John@gouldingfinance.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and work to resolve it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), our external dispute resolution scheme. AFCA’s service is free to consumers.
